Extension of the Validity Period for Certificates of Eligibility for Myanmar Nationals

Due to the ongoing delays in the issuance of Overseas Worker Identification Cards (OWIC) by Myanmar’s Ministry of Labour—caused by reforms to Myanmar’s overseas labour dispatch system and the impact of the earthquake that occurred in central Myanmar—the validity period for Certificates of Eligibility relating to employment status (including “Dependent” status associated with such employment) for Myanmar nationals will be temporarily extended from three months to six months. This extension applies only to those who hold valid visas issued through the prescribed visa application procedures conducted by the Embassy of Japan in Myanmar.
